Lauren Blue Reflexology

Reflexology

Reflexology is a wonderful touch therapy, that helps with our well-being and to balance and heal. It assists the body to function to its full potential – helping it to achieve homeostasis (a state of balance within the body).  This in turn can help with preventing illness.

Reflexology is non intrusive and a form of massage where the reflexologist applies different amounts of pressure to pressure points within the feet, hands, face and ears.  It is believed that each of these pressure points correspond to different areas within our bodies.  By massaging these points we help to open up energy pathways, which can have an analgesic affect, releasing endorphins (our bodies natural pain killer).

Reflexology can help with  :

Well being

Relaxation

Release of stress and tension

Sleep

Mood improvement

You may experience further numerous benefits but these will be on an individual basis

What to expect from your Reflexology Treatment

Your first visit will last approximately 80 minutes in total, this allows time for a thorough consultation, followed by a 60 minute treatment.

During your consultation we will discuss your medical history, diet and lifestyle.  This will therefore be used to enhance your treatment and allow a personal/tailored experience. All information you provide will be treated confidentially.

During your treatment you can either choose to relax on a massage table or recline in a comfortable chair designed for a Reflexology treatment.  You will only need to remove any footwear.  It is a good idea to wear loose, comfortable clothing.  This allows your treatment to include a massage to the lower leg.

You have the option of having  calming music played, whilst your treatment takes place.  I also offer the option of essential oils being diffused within the treatment room.  I only use certified pure oils.

Booking the treatment

You can book by emailing, phoning, texting or booking online. There are a range of treatments to choose and I am always happy to discuss the best option for you.

I normally contact clients before the treatment to check that they don’t have any of the contraindications listed on my website; you can also fill out the consultation form over the phone with me, before coming for a treatment if you would prefer.

The initial consultation takes approximately 15 – 20 minutes; this allows enough time to briefly go through your medical history and to discuss any aspect of your health and wellbeing that you would like to focus on. At the end of the consultation you will be asked to sign a consent form for treatment, which will remain confidential.

I offer face, hand and foot reflexology. At the start of the session I use hot towels or moist wipes to clean the skin and then apply either an oil or balm to the skin.

I will use a combination of massage and gentle pressure techniques, using my thumb and fingers as part of the reflexology sequence. Closing your eyes and relaxing your mind can enhance the treatment.

Occasionally there can be tender points, which may indicate a reflex is out of balance, these areas normally soften as the treatment progresses. We can discuss any reflexes that I may have felt were out of balance at the end of the session.

To close the treatment, I will do some gentle deep breathing exercises with you and use another hot towel to remove any excess oil or balm from the treatment area.

At the end of the treatment there will be time to discuss how you found the treatment. Most people find it deeply relaxing and have an increased sense of well-being. Afterwards drink plenty of water as the body cleanses the system of impurities. Any side effects should pass within 24 hours.

Some people find it works for them – some don’t. The best way to find out is to try it!

(Reflexology is not a substitute for medical advice and as a therapy it does not make any medical claims).
