Reflexology for Children

Reflexology for children and young adults

As a mum, I know first hand how amazing Reflexology can be.   I have been giving my daughter regular reflexology for many years.  And even now at the age of 18, she still puts her feet on my lap, ready for a treatment!

There are so many incredible benefits but here are a few you may be interested in: sleep issues, digestive upsets, challenging behaviours, coughs, colds, boosting the immune system, growing pains, stress, anxiety, confidence, self esteem and concentration levels.

Reflexology is increasingly being recognised and used by so many people, especially those who are interested in complementary therapies.  By applying gentle pressure to specific reflex points, this holistic therapy can support children’s overall well-being in many ways. Reflexology offers a non-invasive, gentle and calming approach that can support children’s health and well-being.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

Benefits may include:

Reduced stress & anxiety

Better sleep & relaxation

Improved focus & calm

Support with physical & emotional well-being

Relief from muscle tension

Gentle support through hormonal & developmental changes

What to expect from the treatment.

Consent is required from parent, guardian or caregiver for children under 18 years of age.  You are welcome to stay during the treatment.

Each treatment is adapted to the child’s age, preferences, comfort & needs.  These will be discussed prior to treatment with a thorough consultation.

Treatments are gentle, soothing & designed to help each child feel safe, secure and relaxed.  Some children may not like the thought or idea of their feet being touched.  We can always try, however it is important that each child feels comfortable.  No treatment should ever be pushed onto them. There is also the choice of receiving reflexology on their hands and/or face too.

A reflexology treatment normally lasts one hour for adults, for children this typically lasts between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the child’s age and needs. Reflexology  should never cause pain or discomfort. Most children find it soothing and enjoyable, making it an easy therapy to incorporate into their routine.

While more research is needed to fully understand its benefits, reflexology can be a valuable addition to a child’s wellness routine when practised by a trained Reflexologist.
